On line submission of abstracts and papers

Types of Submissions:

Short abstract (one page text and figures/graphs w/ captions) (Download the template .rft  .doc)

Extended abstract (2 pages) (Download the template)

Paper (up to 12 pages) (Download the template)

Deadlines:

Abstract’ submission deadline:……………………….…..……...……July 25, 2008

Until September 15 late submissions will be accepted depending on space availability and on the quality of the work submitted.

Notification of acceptance: …..…  up to 4 week from submission, or in two weeks for submissions after July 25

Submission process

The OpenConf system will be used for submission of abstracts and papers and their review.

If your submission refers to a presentation for the Science fair, to an workshop proposal, or to a cooperation project to be presented and explored at the Contact Seminar, please proceed as usual with the electronic submission but there after please send a copy of the abstract by email to mfcosta@fisica.uminho.pt indicating (on subject) the type of your communication (Science Fair, Workshop or Project) and the submission number (or forward us the acknowledgement email you will receive from OpenConf after the electronic submission)

On line submission of abstracts and papers

 When submitting the final paper, extended abstract or abstract (word - preferently -, rtf, or pdf format) please include authors names and affiliation (thus please ignore the request for a "blinded" manuscript).

Selected full papers will be considered for publication (after peer reviewing) at the International Journal on Hands-on Science (www.aect.pt/hsci/ij.html)

Oral and poster presentations

Oral presentations may be between 10 and 40 minutes in duration. Presentations using video conference links are possible. We expect that poster presentations will be available for the full duration of the meeting.

Discussion workshops and hands-on experiments demonstrations

Sessions will be scheduled for the discussion of particular topics (such as scientific literacy, women and science, science and society, ethics, R&D, life-long learning, science museums and informal learning) presentation and demonstration of experiments (hopefully, also presented in the Science Fair).

Science fair and robotics festival

Schools, research institutions, commercial companies, science clubs, teams and or groups of students or teachers, and individuals may prepare a booth to present their work at the Conference’ Science Fair.

 

Publications

The conference papers, extended abstracts and abstracts will be published on the Conference proceedings' CDROM. Abstracts, Extended Abstracts and Full Papers will be published in printed form (submitted to ISI Proceedings). In order to guarantee the proceedings book' publication in time for the conference, the final deadline (SEPTEMBER 15) for manuscript uploading can not be further extended!
