29-09-2006 - The 4th International Conference on "Hands-on Science. Building bridges through Science Education" will be held  in Ponta Delgada, Azores, from the 23rd to the 27th July 2007. The call for papers and website will be launched by December 27th, 2006.

10-09-2006 - The 3rd International Conference on Hands-on Science is over! It was an exciting week full of activities undertaken with great enthusiasm by all ~300 participants that came to us from all over Europe and the World.

Over 450 persons from 41 countries registered to the conference. 270 works where published in an over 700 pages proceedings book. 1000 CDroms where also produced and will be offered to schools all over Europe. The effectivelly presented communications (over 95%), in pdf  powerpoint or video format will be published in a DVD later this month. The online real time transmission of the conference will be processed saved in compressed video format and made available to all interested persons. All those, we truly believe, will represent and invaluable tool to help school teachers to implement hands-on experimental activities on their class room, as well as the schools, teacher trainning institutions, universities, national and local government bodies, associations and NGOs, the population in general and politicians to develop better approaches to School' Science Education.

One book with a selection of the most remarkable works presented at our 6 anual conferences and workshops will be published by the end of the month as well as it will be the proceedings book "Livro de actas" of the special session on science education in Portugal "Educação para a Ciência".

The Science Fair that included several dozens of experience for all age levels were enthusiastically visited by the conference participants and over 500 students, teachers and population in general. As well the robotics Festival raised a great deal of interest an enthusiasm among participants and visitors.

The next Hands-on Science conference was tentatively scheduled for Azores late July 2007. Next spring the follow-up of our workshops on Scientific Literacy and Life Long Learning will be organised in Romania. And by mid April the 3rd Trainning course in School Robotics will be organised in Malta.

THE HANDS-ON SCIENCE NETWORK WILL BE MAINTAINNED IN THE FORM OF AN INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION AND WILL KEEP GROWING ENLARGING ITS MEMBERSHIP AND THE IMPACT OF ITS ACTIVITIES AND PROPOSALS IN OUR SCHOOLS AND EU' SOCIETIES ...  INDUCING A BETTER SCIENCE EDUCATION... IN FAVOUR OF A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT...  TOWARDS A BRIGHTER FUTURE OF HUMANKIND...

03-09-2006 - We would like to involve actively every body interested in the improvement of science education in our school and to the development, sustainable, of our societies... our World... The doors of the conference will be open to the participation of all during the robotics demos throughout the week at Braga Parque; Friday, 8, afternoon at the Science Fair (University campus in Gualtar); and Saturday afternoon at tho Robotics festival in IPJ.

A participação de todos é livre (e muito bem-vinda!) no Festival de Desporto Robótico no Instituto Português da Juventude na Rua de Santa Margarida, no sábado apartir das 14h  e no Braga Parque ao longo da semana; e ainda visitando e participando nas actividades da Feira de Ciências na 6ª. feira, dia 8, apartir das 14:30 no complexo pedagógico CP2 do campus de Gualtar da Universidade do Minho.

02-09-2006 - A DVD will all works (oral, poster, video, expriments,...) effectively presented at the conference will be published by the 3rd week of September. Do not forget to bring your work/presentation in a CD (or flash pen) and deliver to the secretariat at registration.

01-09-2006 - As previously anounced the conference will be broadcasted in real time. A link will be active on the homepage from 9:55 on Monday, 4.

30-08-2006 - The weather forecast for next week indicates warm (max over 30 but cooling down slightly towards the end of the week) clear skies weather. Spite summer time temperatures are expected it is advisable to bring a sweater or a light jacket for the evennings (temperatures may drop down to below 20ºC even down to 16 or 15ºC).

29-08-2006 - Transfer from the main hotel to the conference venue and return will be offered from main hotel. The bus or mini bus will stop at SPRU Residence, Albergaria Sra-A-Branca (serving also Albergaria Bracara Augusta, Museum Residence, all hotel in the center of the town), and Hotel de Lamaçães, between 9:00 and 9:30 (one half hour before on Monday - 8:30 to 9:00) and late aftenoon at the end of the conference sessions.

28-08-2006 - Just one week away to the conference openning! 270 works were accepted, 364 registered participants and an exciting program...

12-08-2006 - The electronic registration system is operational (but please send a copy of your registration by email too -hsci2006@hsci-pt.com- ...just in case). registration is mandatory until September 1st at 17:00 CET (final deadline).

28-07-2006 - The electronic registration system is not working (probably until mid August) due to problems with our server. In the mean time please send your registration data by email to hsci2006@hsci-pt.com .

21-07-2006 - The updated provisonal program will be posted (Program) on July 31st.

08-07-2006 - On view of the large number of contributions and in order to be able to ensure an efficient organization we are requesting an as early as possible registration.

Online registration is mandatory until August 26. If the registration is not accepted you will receive a notice by email in up to 5 working days. Last minute registration (after August 26 or on site during the conference) will be an exception that should not happen - decisions on acceptation will be made individually by the Chair or responsible in-charge person.

Fee' payment may be done by cheque bank draft or transfer, or on site during the conference in cash (unfortunately no CC can be accepted).

 

28-06-2006 - The DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF CAMERA READY MANUSCRIPTS (ABSTRACT, EXTENDED ABSTRACT OR FULL PAPER) WAS POSTPONED TO JULY 8.

Do confirm your participation at the conference by registering before July 15 (The proceedings book will be sent to the printer on July the 17th and will include only manuscripts from registered persons or persons that confirm their efective participation at the Conference(except on special situations to be individually decided).

26-06-2006 - Over 250 submissions received. Over 150 participants register til date.

06-06-2006 - Over 160 submissions received, from 32 countries in 4 continents, at present.

                       Acceptation' confirmation emails will be send shortly.

                       Deadline for submission of camera ready abstracts, extend abstracts and full papers is June 26. This is the FINAL deadline!

30-05-2006 - The conference will be broadcasted online through a dedicated website. Details late July.

30-05-2006 - Abstract submission deadline is over.

                      Until June 24 late submissions will be accepted depending on space availability and on the quality of the work submitted.

02-05-2006 - Do to the recent problems with our servers the deadline for abstract' submission is postponed to May 29, however until June 24 late submissions will be accepted depending on space availability and on the quality of the work submitted.

30-04-2006 - Due to problems with our server the electronic registration and abstract submission is unavailable since April 23. Do apologise. We may send both abstract and registration to the email: hsci2006@hsci-pt.com.

The deadline for fee reduction and fhurther suport was extended to May 16. The deadline for reduced full fee is May 15.

14-03-2006 - From March 12 until the Abstract' deadline of May 16 the abstracts should be writen according to the template (at Author Info) in english .  However communications of special relevance may still be accepted in languages other then english.
